If it is listed on your school admission portal, log in as well, and click “Accept” to secure your admission.
When you accept your admission on JAMBP CAPS or your school portal, it confirms that you’ve agreed to the offer of admission from the school offering it to you.

It officially notifies the school and JAMB that you’ll be joining the course. However, the process doesn’t end there.
There are more steps you need to take to completely secure your place in the school.
Therefore, here’s what to do next.
What is next after accepting admission on JAMB CAPS or your school portal?
After accepting your admission offer on JAMB CAPS, print your admission letter from the JAMB portal, it is proof of your admission and you need it for clearance and registration.
Next, pay your acceptance fee. This fee confirms that you have accepted the admission offer.
You’ll find everything you need to know about the acceptance fees on your school’s admission portal.
After paying the acceptance fee, go for your clearance. During your clearance; you’ll create a student profile on your school’s portal.

And, upload documents like your JAMB admission letter, acceptance fee receipt, result slip, O’Level results, birth certificate, and proof of local government identification etc.
Upon concluding your clearance, go for registration in your faculty and department.

There, you’ll register your courses with your department, pay your school fees, and then go for medical screening.
In simple steps, after accepting your admission offer in JAMB CAPS, go and:
1. Print your admission letter
Once you accept your admission on JAMB CAPS, the next step is to print your JAMB Admission Letter.
You need this letter for your registration in your school.
As I already said; it is the official proof that you’ve been offered admission.
To print it:
- Log in to your JAMB profile on the official JAMB portal.
- From your dashboard, go to the “Print Admission Letter” option.
- Pay and print your letter.

Your information on the letter like name and other details must be the same as the one in your school portal.
2. Pay your acceptance fee
To confirm your admission spot with your school, you need to pay your acceptance fee.
It shows you’re in for the course your school offered you to study.
To do this:
- Go to your school’s admission portal.
- Log in with your application details.
- Check for the “Acceptance fee payment” section.
- Make the payment online or at an approved bank.
- After payment, print your receipt.
You must pay your acceptance fee within the school’s stipulated timeframe.
If you don’t pay on time, you’ll lose your admission spot.
3. Complete your school’s online registration
After paying the acceptance fee, do your school’s online registration.
To do that:
- Go to your school portal and fill out the bio-data form.
- Update your information like name, JAMB reg number, state of origin, LGA of origin etc.
- Upload your passport photo, admission letter, O’Level results, and other documents.
Check your school’s portal and you’ll find what you need to provide for this.
There is also a deadline for it, therefore, update your details before the deadline.
You need an account with your school to do the online registration, however, you already created an account on the school portal during your application for admission.

If you didn’t, then, create an account on the school portal and upload the documents listed there.
In addition, select and register your courses for the semester through the school’s portal.
4. Go for physical clearance
In many schools physical clearance is compulsory.
The school use it to verify and confirm your information.
For this, you need your:
- JAMB Admission Letter.
- Original and photocopies of your credentials (WAEC/NECO results, birth certificate, etc.).
- Acceptance fee receipt.
- Passport photographs.
Arrange them to make the process easy and stress-free.
During physical clearance, you’ll do your medical screening and register yourself with the SUG and other necessary arms of the school.
5. Pay school fees
After physical clearance, the next step is to pay your school fees.
Your school fees cover tuition and other charges like SUG fees, medical fees and the rest.
To pay:
- Log in to the school’s portal and get your school fees print out.
- Pay through any of your school’s approved banks.
- Print your receipt as proof of payment.
For some schools, you’ll be asked to submit the printout to your department.

Pay your school fees on time to avoid issues with your admission.
Remember, your admission can still be withdrawn by the school even at this point.
6. Secure accommodation
If you plan to stay on campus, apply for hostel accommodation as soon as possible.
Many schools have limited spaces, so act quickly.
- Go to the accommodation section of the school’s portal.
- Follow the application process and pay the hostel fees.
- Print your receipt and go to the hostel porter’s office.
- At the porter’s office, you’ll complete your hostel registration.
If you prefer off-campus housing, start searching for a good house to stay.
7. Attend orientation programs
I know most students don’t take orientation programs seriously but they’re important.
They’re there to introduce new students to the school’s rules, culture, and facilities.
At the orientation program, you’ll learn about campus life and how to settle in.
If you ask me, I’ll say you attend all orientation sessions.
8. Start lectures
Once all registration processes are complete, you’re officially a student of the school.
Attend your lectures always and build relationships with fellow students and lecturers.
Tips to help you transition
- Always check your schools, faculty and department notice boards for updates about new students.
- Keep hard and soft copies of receipts, letters, and forms for reference.
- If you’re not sure about anything, ask questions.
- Always talk to your course adviser especially if you need help with any course.
- You can’t do it alone connect with other students and make friends.
What happens after accepting admission on JAMB?
After accepting your admission on JAMB CAPS, your admission status will be updated to “accepted” which shows that you have “accepted” the offer.
Your school will be notified that you have accepted your admission offer and will begin your clearance and other registrations as required.

What to do after accepting transfer approval on JAMB CAPS?
Once you accept a transfer approval on JAMB CAPS, you should wait for the school to offer you admission to the new course.

Once the offer is updated, accept the admission offer, print the offer, pay your acceptance fees and go for your school’s registration.
