Now, things have changed, JAMB does more than conduct the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Does JAMB give admission?
JAMB does not directly give admission to students like the way schools do.
Currently, JAMB is like the general overseer, they make sure that everything done by the school in the whole admission process is in order.
In other words, JAMB is no longer just a body that is responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
They now conduct the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and also confirm admissions offered to candidates by schools before the admission becomes valid.

How do JAMB and Universities work together?
JAMB will conduct the UTM exam and forward each candidate’s name and score to schools.
Then each school will conduct its screening exam as well and offer candidates admission based on their UTME score, Post-UTME score and O’Level result.
Next, JAMB will go through the profile of each candidate offered admission by the school to confirm whether they deserve admission or not.
